Part 3 - Elections of Officers

(cf. Article 5 of Constitution)

  1. At the first regular business meeting in October, the Team Leader shall appoint a nominating committee of up to three (3) team members.

  2. The members of the nominating committee shall strive to nominate two (2) or more candidates for each office to be filled and shall secure the consent of each candidate to serve, if elected.

  3. The nominating committee shall report to the membership at the first regular business meeting in November. In addition to the candidates nominated by the nominating committee, nominations from the floor shall be allowed. The list of nominees shall be sent to the Sheriff’s Office for validation.

  4. The election of officers shall be held annually at the first regular business meeting in December. Nominations will not be accepted at this meeting.

  5. The term of office shall be from the beginning of the first meeting in January to the beginning of the first meeting in January two years later.

  6. Each elected officer shall hold office for two (2) years or until his/her successor is elected and qualified, or until his/her death, or until he/she resigns, or until he/she is removed from office in the manner provided by the bylaws of PCSAR.

  7. Elections for offices of Team Leader, Assistant Team Leader of Administration, Maintenance, and Treasurer shall be done in odd years. Elections for offices of Assistant Team Leader of Operations, Training, and Secretary shall be done in even years.

  8. A vote shall be taken by ballot for each office to be filled and a majority vote of team members present and voting elects. Absentee and proxy ballots shall not be accepted.

  9. In the case of a tie vote, the tie is broken by the drawing of lots.

  10. In case there should, at any time, be but one (1) candidate for an office, the bylaws requiring election by ballot may be suspended by a two‑thirds vote of the team members present and voting.

  11. The membership may vacate the position of any officer who is absent from meetings of PCSAR for two (2) consecutive months without good cause or who was replaced by an acting officer and determined by the membership to be unable to complete his/her term of office.

  12. The membership of PCSAR may impeach any officer guilty of immoral conduct, or abuse of office, or actions which may dishonor PCSAR.

    1. A formal petition signed by 1/2 the voting members of PCSAR and must be presented to the Executive Board and the membership of PCSAR.

    2. The officer in question and the membership of PCSAR shall be notified in writing by the Executive Board of a formal hearing on the impeachment at the next regularly scheduled business meeting.

    3. After formal discussion, the membership of PCSAR may, by a vote of 2/3, impeach the officer.
