Standing Order #22 - Public Relations / Media Contact

PURPOSE
The purpose of this Standing Order is to state the PCSAR policy and procedures for handling media contacts and public information duties.
SCOPE/POLICY
It is the policy of PCSAR to provide for controlled, accurate, and timely dissemination of information.
RESPONSIBILITY
Implementation of this standing order is the responsibility of the Assistant Team Leader – Administration, all participants of the Public Relations Committee, and all other team members.
PROCEDURE
The Assistant Team Leader – Administration shall assemble a Public Relations Committee composed of the PCSAR Executive Board and other interested appointed team members. Members of this group shall be responsible for conducting or supervising interviews, filling information and media requests, and approving social media items. Members of the Public Relations Committee shall have appropriate training or complete it within one year of appointment. Satisfactory training includes FEMA IS-29, FEMA G-290, FEMA E-388, NWCG S-203, or equivalents.
